# Get Contact from Ticket

Finds the contact connected to a specific ticket in HubSpot and returns the contact's ID. Useful for finding who reported a ticket before fetching their details or ticket history.

**Action identifier:** `get_contact_from_ticket`. **Reference checked:** 29 September 2026.

## Inputs

| Field | Type | Required/default | Meaning |
| ----------- | ------ | ---------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| `ticket_id` | string | Required | The ID of the ticket to get the contact from |

## Output shape

Paths are relative to this action's output. Select them from the builder's variable picker; do not add a `ticket` wrapper to actions that return top-level fields. Nullable property fields and empty defaults are not proof that a value was retrieved.

| Path | Type | Meaning |
| ------------ | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `contact_id` | string | First contact ID in the returned ticket associations; empty when none are returned. |
| `exists` | boolean | True when an associated contact ID is returned. This does not identify the latest message sender. |

## Behavior and limits

Returns the first associated contact ID from the returned association page. With multiple contacts it does not select by role or prove that this is the sender of the latest message. Add an explicit selection strategy when that distinction matters.

No association or a missing resource gives `contact_id: ""` and `exists: false`. Check this before calling Get Contact.
